As a movie fanatic myself, here is a compiled list of the top five movies that you won’t want to miss out on in 2021.
Godzilla vs. Kong
Throughout history, few franchises have had success like the Godzilla and King Kong series. Since 1962, movies showcasing the explosive rivalry between Godzilla and King Kong have become a classic action-sci-fi staple. According to The Numbers, in the latest film Godzilla King of the Monsters, the film sold over 12 million tickets and accumulated a total of 386.6 million dollars, earning the spot as the 25th highest paid movie in 2019. This year, Warner Bros is releasing a continuation to the movies Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. With new predictions and interesting theories, fans have waited at edge of their seats as they wait for the legendary Godzilla-Kong fight–this time with more action than ever.
Released March 31st, 2021, the epic battle features jaw-dropping special effects and visuals that make the watching experience all the more captivating. For all movie-watchers who appreciate the mesmerizing results of post-production, this movie is for you.

Black Widow
Since Avengers: Endgame, Marvel fans have demanded for the Avengers member Black Widow to have her own movie. Through her abilities to fight, sarcastic personality, and selflessness, she has gradually become a widely-loved character for Marvel fans. Scarlet Johansson continues her role as Marvel character Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow, set to release on July 9th. The movie explores Black Widow’s past life as a spy before she was recruited as part of the Avengers.
As someone who’s only really observed Black Widow as a side character in previous Marvel movies, I’m looking forward to seeing what Black Widow’s character has to offer to Phase 4.

Space Jam: A New Legacy
The 1990s featured many iconic sports movies. Movies such as White Men Can’t Jump, Rocky V, and Tyson had a pivotal roles in modern sports film production. After a 15 year absence, Space Jam, a classic in its genre, is finally back. In its long-awaited sequel, NBA star Lebron James will team up with Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes characters to battle the “Monstars”. The movie also features NBA Stars Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, and Anthony Davis and renowned actor Don Cheadle and comedian Gabriel Iglesias.
With a release date of July 16th, Space Jam: A NewLegacy promises a charming storyline and feeling of nostalgia for all Space Jam fans.

Fast and Furious 9
Throughout the 2010’s, the Fast and Furious collection became an instant favorite for many viewers. Starring popular actors such as Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, and Michelle Rodriguez, it’s no surprise that the franchise made over a total of 5 billion dollars from all of their movies. In May 2021, Universal Pictures will release the 9th installment to this exhilarating series, and this time, the movie appears to be more remarkable than ever.
In this new movie, we’ll see a new and exciting story in which Dominic Torretto (Vin Diesel), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman Pierce (Tyrese Gibson), and the rest of the main cast reunite to fight a master assassin. The latest release showcases classic action-movie fight scenes, high-speed car chases, and prison life.

Venom 2
In 2018, Venom was considered one of the biggest box office surprises of the year, with a total of over 213 million dollars in gross pay. This year, Marvel and Columbia Pictures join forces to release the film’s sequel, reportedly being better than the original Venom. Eddie Brock, better known as the superhero Venom, returns to the big screen, this time fighting a deadly serial killer.
Expectations for the film are high as the release date, September 17th, approaches. With improved post-production, talented actors, and brand-new action scenes, Venom 2 is an exciting addition to the list of 2021 movie releases.
